Calling
Voice calls over WhatsApp, for your business numbers.
Not available yet
Voice calling is in beta and not available for your business yet. It will appear here when your admin enables it, you enable it for a number, and Meta approval is in place.
Calling for this business
Your admin has enabled the calling beta for this business. As the owner, you can switch calling on or off for the whole business here. Switching it on does not place any call, and numbers stay off until you enable each one below.
Numbers
Calling is switched on separately for each number. Only numbers switched on here can ever be used for calls, and only after Meta approval.
Who has allowed calls
A business may only call a customer who has given permission first. This list shows the permission records kept for this business.
Place a call
Shown only when at least one number is enabled for calling. Calls still cannot be placed until Meta approval is in place.
How calling works, in plain words
Switched on per number, not per app. Calling is enabled for one business phone number at a time. Turning it on for one number does not turn it on for another.
No cold calls, ever. A business may only call a customer who has said yes first. The customer answers a permission request and can choose a short permission or a lasting one.
Permission can end. A short permission is reported to last 7 days from approval. A lasting permission does not expire on its own, but the customer can take it away at any time, and repeated unanswered calls are reported to end the permission automatically.
Inbound-only pilot first. The pilot starts with customers calling your business, not your business calling customers. Your business only calls a customer back once that customer has given permission, and only from a number enabled for calling.
Voice only, WhatsApp to WhatsApp. Calls stay inside WhatsApp. A call cannot be transferred to an ordinary phone number.
What is not confirmed yet
Do not rely on these numbers. Provider guides disagree on how many connected calls a business may place per customer per day (some say 5, others say 100), and on the messaging level a number needs before calling can be enabled (some say 1,000, others say 2,000 business-initiated conversations per day). Whether calling needs any Meta approval beyond the usual messaging permissions, the per-minute price for Pakistan, and whether a test number supports calling are also not confirmed. None of these numbers are used anywhere in this app.
